Best known for his work arranging Joanna Newsom's latest album 'Have One On Me' and as a core member of her post-Ys touring band Ryan Francesconi is a composer, guitarist, balkan musician, and cyclist based in Portland, Oregon. After several solo electronic music releases under the moniker 'RF', Francesconi released an album of fingerstyle guitar pieces called 'Parables' (Drag City) at the beginning of 2010. 'Parables' was recorded live without overdubs and floats in a realm somewhere between the disparate genres of his balkan, early music, minimalist and American-fingerstlye influences.

Francesconi's Edinburgh debut will be part of his first solo European tour after only a few solo guitar shows this side of the Atlantic playing alongside the likes of James Blackshaw and Frank Fairfield.

'Ryan Francesconi is one of the most awe-inspiring musicians I've known … it is nearly impossible to believe he's picking those strings with just one hand. This is solo music that sounds like an ensemble; an ecstatic and measured reconciliation of West-African/ Balkan/ Baroque/ bluegrass influences, which ultimately resembles nothing I know'

Jamie O'Connor's combination of mythical lyrical rhymes and intriquete Fahey-like guitar playing is really like no other. A lack of recordings makes each live sighting of this Caledonian song-crafter a rare oportunity to listen to his latest beautiful and moving poetic tales.

Rob St. John

Scotland via Lancashire-based lo-fi logger-rhythms held up by creaking and droning conspirators. A new LP & 7 inch to be released mid 2011.

"Sometime Eagleowl member Rob St John may be Oxford-based and Lancashire-born, but it’s unlikely that his former home city of Edinburgh will ever let him go. St John is a startling alt-folk troubadour in the Bill Callahan / Smog vein, and a young man in thrall to the credence that less is more (brushed drums; scraped violins; sparse electric guitar)." - The Herald, Dec 2010
