Thursday 30th June

Florian Lunaire is taking a new approach to releasing music in the digital age that is strangely traditional in its appeal. Spring 2011 is the first season and it’s released as a digital download on Records Records Records records 11 April 2011. Each season will then be compiled into a limited edition remastered vinyl with extra material at the end of the year.

The template is set: piano-led music, packed with intense lyrics and arresting melody. The first two songs, the beautiful Capture/Release and lead track Amsterdam are about new beginnings. The Persistence Of Memory is a surrealism-influenced song from the past that he’s re-worked. The collection is capped off with a simple piano fade out reprise of Amsterdam.

Martin Aloysius Brignall

Martin Aloysius Brignall, who has an interest in early musical forms particularly American and English folk, primitive and early classical. Drawing on these influences he crafts songs that relate his personal experiences and observations.  He finds inspiration from all kinds of places, London's strange and rich history, American writers like John Fante and Harry Crews and growing up in a small village in Gloucestershire. His songs try to capture the beauty and cruelty of life, the contrast and the glue that binds them.
