Sat Nov 19 - Veronica Falls DJ at HDIF in central London

hdif [Edit] [Delete] 13:06, 16 November '11

Well it had to happen eventually...the band currently drawing the closest links between indie pop and girl groups DJ-ing at the club that does pretty much the same thing. Yes, Patrick and James of the wondrous Veronica Falls - whose self-titled debut album is our album of the year! - will be playing records for us at HDIF at The Phoenix on Saturday night. Patrick was a National Pop League regular when he lived in Glasgow and came to HDIF in Glasgow in 2005 when he was still a teenager, so he definitely knows the score - and I'm sure James has a few tricks up his sleeve too. And if they don't play them, then I'll pitch in with plenty of Shop Assistants and Shangri-Las. Heaven!

Indie song of the week: "Grinding Halt" by The Cure. In honour of this week's show at the Albert Hall, where The Cure played all of their peerless debut album, "Three Imaginary Boys", in full.
Soul song of the week: "Peas Porridge" by The Patti-Cakes. Incredible girl group song from 1967 that's set to become the new "Clapping Song" I reckon.
