Veteran Remixers Ralphi Rosario, Abel Aguilera's Rihanna Remix Gets Grammy Nomination

Artl88 [Edit] [Delete] 05:39, 21 December '11

Remix legends Ralphi Rosario and Abel Aguilera's Rosabel Club Mix of the Rihanna hit "Only Girl (In The World)" is among a handful of nominees named this month in the Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical category of the 54th annual Grammy Awards. The ceremony will air at 8 p.m., Feb. 12, 2012 on CBS television.

Rosario, of Chicago, and Aguilera, of Miami, are both 40-something remixers and have been spinning hit remixes of superstar recording artists' songs for the past about 30 years. Their collective genius has created hits for Donna Summer, Rod Stewart and Barry Manilow to Gloria Estefan, Michael Jackson, Michael Bublé, the Pussycat Dolls, Pet Shop Boys, Ricky Martin, Mariah Carey, Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, and Madonna - just to name a few.

Rosario and Aguilera also created the remix for Jennifer Lopez' hit "Papi," which was featured in the recent, intensely popular FIAT commercial.

Rosario, a Chicago native, got his start as a teen, the youngest founding member of the Hot Mix 5, a leading force in Chicago's early house music scene.

Aguilera was born in New York, but moved to Miami as a teen, where he has earned his own bit of fame at a young age, as one of the first mixers Super Q FM 107, at that time the highest rated station in Miami. The two began collaborating in 1992 and continue to come together to work, despite retaining separate careers and homes in Miami and Chigago.

Their longevity in the remix world has earned them an honor many artists only dream of attaining. "The nomination represents a lifetime of working in this industry and we're very honored to be recognized in this way," Rosario said.

Nominated in Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical are: "Cinema," Skrillex Remix, Sonny Moore, remixer, Ben Benassi, track from "Electroman," Ultra Records; "Collide," Afrojack Remix, Afrojack, remixer, Leona Lewis, "End of Line," RCA/Syco Music; "End of Line," Photek Remix, Photek, remixer, Daft Punk's track from "Tron: Legacy Reconfigured," Walt Disney Records; "Only Girl (in the World)," Rosabel Club Mix, Abel Aguilera and Ralphi Roasario, remixers, Rihanna, Island Def Jam; and, "Rope," Deadmau5 mix, Deadmau5, remixer, Foo Fighters' track from "Wasting Light: Deluxe," RCA/Roswell Records.
