Tomorrow (Monday 11th June) Live ambient/drone music in Dalston, Featuring Isnaj Dui

blahblahblah4 [Edit] [Delete] 22:32, 10 June '12

For anyone not interested in watching the football...

Another night of ambient/experimental/noise/great music at The wonderful Power Lunches in Dalston.

Music will be supplied by...

Isnaj Dui; Standing somewhere between neo-impressionism and electronica, Katie English, aka Isnaj Dui, conveys a minimal yet capturing sound using electronically manipulated flutes and homemade instruments. Cited as a distinct voice, taking the flute away from its pastoral image whilst maintaining its unique mellow sound, English has released several critically acclaimed albums including 2007's Amacrine (Smallfish) and Unstable Equilibrium (Home Normal, 2009). Tonight she will play tracks from her latest album Abstracts on Solitude, released on Hibernate on June 9th.

Alex Monk; once described as a ‘fringe psychedelicist operating in the realms of concrete ambience.’. Monk uses a range of sonic sources including mandolin, guitars, found sounds, his own voice (and others), keyboards and analogue and digital effects. His shows are often improvised though Monk often uses song and chant as the center-point; a means to invoke new melodies, mood and space during live performances. His work has been compared to that of Moondog, Brian Eno, Roy Montgomery and Laurie Anderson. He is currently working on the follow up to his album The Safety Machine, and will showcase some new material in his set tonight. http://soundcloud.com/alex-monk

Circuit Breaker; South London based experimental duo Circuit Breaker perform a fluid and improvisational distillation of elements from No-Wave, Industrial and 'noise' Music(s). Despite the parts of the sum being primarily primative home built electronics, broken drum machines and de-tuned guitars the focus is very much on moulding/forcing these scraps into spontaneous and unusual songs . They have been active for 7 years now, not only as a band but also putting on D.I.Y gigs - most notably their nights of experimental music and performance art at Chelsea College of Art and Design. http://circuitbreakerband.blogspot.co.uk/

Kostoglotov; Kostoglotov provides a very nice set of low-key, lo-fi excursions into a dreamy psyche-pop soundworld of clicks, cuts, pops, drones, swoops, sways and, most welcome of all, melodies. That Kostoglotov knows his way around a tune becomes quickly apparent as the gentle and often introspective compositions float by one after the other. That (s)he's not afraid to augment that tune with excursions through your third eye is a very welcome surprise. (Wonder Wooden reasons, 2012) http://soundcloud.com/kostoglotov

Daniel Ross (BBC Music, The Fly) and Mike Seckleman (MJ's PodMaize) will be DJing throughout the evening.

Entry to this event will be £3, Doors at 7:30
