Fans of Pere Ubu, Ludus, Nico, John Cale may find this interesting…

Gagarin aka Graham Dowdall aka Dids will be performing solo ahead of the release of his next album, at the Fiddler's Elbow in Kentish Town on Tuesday June 16th. Dowdall was recruited by Linder to join Ludus in 1980 and later sacked, by mail, without explanation, several years later. Three days after leaving Ludus, he joined Nico's backing band and continued playing with Nico until her untimely death, also working – as percussionist – on John Cale's Artificial Intelligence album along the way. In the 90s he joined first David Thomas's Two Pale Boys, and later Pere Ubu. His solo material as Gagarin is a mix of atmospheric electronics with field recordings and hefty, grime-influenced beats.

On June 16th, Gagarin will be supported by composers collective Bastard Assignments, improvising trio Browne/Thompson/Sanderson, and drums/electronics duo Far Rainbow.
