Pavement "Best Of" album

MEGAtron [Edit] [Delete] 00:55, 17 August '06

there was a thread last night that I took as a personal challenge.

It seemed to me that Pavement, one of the greatest bands known to man, split up so that Mr Malkmus could explore his Lou Reed fantasies AND so they could reform, obtain the unanimous credit they didn't receive, and make lots of money.

For this to occur there has to be a "Best Of Pavement" record, not a singles album cos they didn't always do themselves justice there.

Anyway, after about ten minutes thought, it is here. Please feel free to rip me apart.

It is not really chronological, only a little, more made to sound good together as an album. The lo-fi stuff would be, in my fantasy world, mixed up to sound as clear and loud as the later stuff.

It is sorted into sides of a vinyl release.

Texas Never Whispers
Box Elder
Trigger Cut
Summer Babe
Zurich Is Stained

You’re Killing Me
Unfair
We Dance
Give It A Day
Here

Silent Kid
Spit On A Stranger
Fight This Generation
Gold Soundz
Range Life

Rattled By The Rush
Grounded
Shady Lane
Stereo
Major Leagues

This is so difficult – no room for Transport Is Arranged or Starlings Of The Slipstream.

No room for the epics – Fillmore Jive or Infinite Spark – they are better left as albums closers.

No room for personal favourites – Perfect Depth (there are arguably too many REAL oldies there anyway – but I will argue them to the death) or Billie – these tracks are unrepresentative.

No room for quirky, rare gems – Killing Moon, Westie Can’t Drum – maybe these could be B Sides of the re-released Stereo.

Guys, really, there is a lot of money to be made here.
