I have always wanted to hear this band mainly because they often seem to be mentioned as a huge influence on Pavement, one of my favourite ever bands.

I was drunk and on eBay last week (never a good mix - I nearly paid £10 for the NME C86 tape recently - thankfully I was outbid) and bought the first two albums on CD.

They arrived yesterday and the second album, at least, "Jane From Occupied Europe" sounds really awesome - I really like the record a lot, BUT I cannot see the Pavement influence at all after a couple of listens.

Anyone agree? Have any thoughts on Swell Maps? They seem to be one of those bands that have their name bandied about without much stuff really being written about them.
