Having watched the Danielle de Picciotto doc on Einsturzende Neubauten's scheme to fund the band and recordings through a membership programme on their website over the weekend, does anyone think this is a good idea?
Having taken money from fans to produce an album, is the independence of any band compromised. What if they don't make the album 'the fans' want to hear? They don't seem to be releasing material any more prolifically than they would if attached to a label. And have you seen internetty neubauten fans? Jesus they're creepy.
