ISIS - In The Absence of Truth

flackcaptain [Edit] [Delete] 08:47, 7 September '06

Early thoughts of this album?

I must have given it a dozen or so spins by now and hate to admit that I am extremely disappointed by it.

The riffs dont seem very chunky or heavy and are quite predictable. The riffs don't run through the songs for very long before they are lost in the spacious nothingness of the tracks.

The fact that there a form of proper 'singing' on alot of the album takes away the terror and aggression that Oceanic and Panopticon maintained continuously throughout.

There doesn't even appear to be one single song that stands out as classic ISIS.

I suppose every band needs to find a slightly new direction with every album they make. But I simply do not understand why they have elected to make a forgettable, MOR, metal album such as this.
