Treading the line between seriousness and unintentional comedy

John_Brainlove [Edit] [Delete] 17:16, 10 September '06

Patrick Wolf: "I was once a boy, 'til I cut my penis off, and a grew a hairy scar of stubborn fire."

Nico on 'The End' (and Jim Morrisson for that matter): "he took a face from the ancient gallery and he walked on down the hall.. mother I want to... AAAAAAAAAAAAA"

Antony & The Johnsons: "My lady's story is one of annihilation, my lady's story is one of breast amputation."

Sometimes people that are trying to make deeply serious music end up coming across as vaguely pretentious and kind of laughable... can you think of any like this? I mean, I love all of the songs in question, but I remember seeing the 1st and 3rd example live, and people in audience sniggered. I mean, I love those songs, but I can totally see why they did.
