Sick of Sexism in Indie

sean [Edit] [Delete] 16:46, 11 September '06

It's one thing hearing some beered up Sun reader shouting "get 'em out" or magazines running features on bands just because they have an attractive girl in and another to read threads dismissing boys for liking girls music because they must only fancy them (not because of a difference of taste and opinion if it was a male artist)

But does anyone think this slowly creeping sense of sexism is ruining indie like it did punk rock? There were rapes reported again at reading this year and far too many tales of indie girls getting treated badly not just by bands but fellow fans and bouncers.

Be curious if anyone has any recommended reading on this topic too and not just ladyfest-style men-hating lesbian ramblings...

Thanks.
