Past musical revelation of the OMG type.

John_Brainlove [Edit] [Delete] 15:10, 10 October '06

Looking through my old iTunes, from which almost everything was deleted as the computer only has a 10mb HD, I came across an EP I made 7 years ago under the name 'JohnPlaysGuitar'. It was made on my, at the time, recently deceased gran's tape machine, with a half-broken Midi system acting as another tape machine, so I would play a guitar part, then re-perform the song with the first track playing behind me as a backing track. So I had an incredibly improvised two-track recording facility in the corner of my room. And had just become really interested in the musical avant-garde and the intentional breaking down of normal song structures, and destroying what I saw as rampant over-sentimentality in acoustic music.

And, lol, I actually quite like it. I hear bits of Mountain Goats, Shellac and Yo La Tengo in there, none of which I was listening to at the time as far as I remember.

This has really cheered me up, finding this :)

I'll stick a link up to a couple of them if anyone wants to hear it.
