I was a bit miffed after I read a quote on the NME site from New Order saying "we don’t see Joy Division as a different group apart from not having Ian there physically. He’s still there mentally. Spiritually."

Personally I really have problems with new order. They ARE a completely different group whether they like it or not. Joy Division are probably the most influential band of the last 25 years, and created some of darkest, and most beautiful music that's ever been made, and can be credited for spawning some of the bests bands around today - Interpol, etc... New Order made/make completely soulless, tacky synth-pop, with no substance to it, that's influenced naff all apart from more soulless tacky synth-pop. How can you say Curits is still there in spirit?

I wished they had just stopped making music... god like genius? bleh... At least they decided to change their name, can you imagine if they were still called joy division? :-(

Am I missing something? Or are they really that shite? I'm sure this isn't the first time this has been discussed on these boards, but that quote just really pissed me off.

On another note, I'm very much looking forward to the prospect of a Joy Division movie!
