Lyrical Meanings vs Music

alcxxk [Edit] [Delete] 15:00, 6 March '05
the mars volta's lyrics seem entirely gibberish, but i read a minidissertation by a fan on thecomatorium.com's message board explaining all the imagery and every word used in Frances The Mute (apparently its an entire story about an AIDS infected male prostitute going around raping priests who were complicit in the rape that lead to his birth or something), and this made me wonder if the words having such direct meaning actually made the music any better?
i mean, i feel that the album trails off a lot towards the end, but, if this is cleverly reflecting the narrative, does it make it good/better?
and why?
