Rebuilding the British Empire

oceanRain [Edit] [Delete] 01:51, 29 March '05
Was the title of an article in the LA Times over the weekend, written by some guy who thinks the NME is still relevant. Anyway, the point was thanks to the White Stripes and the Strokes you Brits have gotten off yer collective arses and have been putting out some good music lately. Article goes on to mention Maximo Park, Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs and a couple others are in town this week doing the conquer America bit.

I'd contend American bands were shit too and that when my generation (well, every one except me and creaky and cadd) grew up and bought houses and had kids and packed their Pavement records up in the attic - and handed the battaan (sp?) to you kids (excepting again you DiS kids) who championed Limp Bizcut and Good Charlotte - that ya damn near killed it all!

We're half way into the new decade and things look bright again. Comments welcomed.

Now for the competition!!! (I'm amazed how this stupid shite just comes to me!) We kicked yer bloody arses twice! But this thread ain't about the Battle of New Orleans, nope.

US vs. Britain. Count 1 pt for every band with above, oh say, 2.5 stars. (Maybe we should weight the scores?) Who's on top? Yanks or Brits?

No going into your profile and adding Brit bands for a home field advantage!

Me:
I might've lost count a little bit but I scored Brit bands 39 and Amer 32 (and a couple 'Other').

Mmm, shit. You Brits are the only country to have taken our capital city, so maybe it shouldn't surprise me. Anyway, how'd you score it?
