Thanks to this very site, I went to gig last night for the price of little more than a lot of cider. Which is very reasonable.

At this gig, I saw a band called We Are Scientists. They're not bad. I will say, however, that they are so achingly 2005 it's unbelievable. They came across (to my apple-warped mind) a little bit Maximo Park, a little bit Bloc Party (maybe), with brilliant relentless crazy drum patterns (The Rapture came to my mind), but also unmistakeably New York. They're the sort of band that, with a little nudge from the NME, ver kids will embrace and take to the top. Whether this is bad or not remains to be seen, but the frontman does have a definite charisma about him.

They made me jerk my crazy foot, and put a smile on my face, so they're not all bad. It just seems at the moment that there are any number of bands who sound a little bit like each other, and it takes something more to stand out in a crowded 'scene'. Maybe the bassists tank-top and inadvisable moustache will see these guys as that band...good show though, so thumbs up from me.

Oh, and if you are the ridiculously attractive brunette Geordie girl who was wearing a tie and carrying a bag, congratulations on being hot.
