least favourite things about the DiS music board

5) threads where the title of the thread is a broad and unfocussed reference to some facet music or other (e.g. “Talking Heads” or “Hip hop” or “lyrics” ) but the poster decides to use the opportunity to ask the most facile, uninteresting and pointless question possible (e.g “has anyone seen that guy wandering around London who looks like David Byrne”). Basically its pure attention seeking: reel them into your thread with a title ripe with possibilities and then assault them with inanity. At least call your thread “OMG: Dave ByRne lookaliek spoted in L0nd0n =))))” so I can steer well clear

4) people who, instead of merely expressing their enjoyment of a song/artist, must fit their enjoyment into some sort of list related thread. So when they want to inform the board at large about their new favourite song they start a thread saying “best songs about farm animals” and then reap the glorious post count. Listen, just because your thread gets 300 replies doesn’t mean people actually care about the content of your original post. In fact, they probably care less because they’re far more interested in splurging their own rotten brains about songs vaguely farmyard related, hoping that someone in DiSville will give them the slightest bit of attention and validate their continued existence. NEWSFLASH: it aint gonna happen sweetheart

3) people who absolutely must give their *SOLID GOLD COMPLETELY INFALLIBLE OPINION* on whatever flava of the month DiS is currently getting worked up over. Sorry, not all of these peeps (since I belong to that group myself), just the ones who give albums a single cursory listen and then reap down their own glorious verdict on the matter: ”its shit, nowhere near as good as the last one”. Really? How long have you spent with it then? Since it only leaked about an hour ago I doubt you’ve been able to spend much time with it, but it’s the NEW THING, gotta have an opinion on it before everyone stops caring. Its fucking musical tourism and it pisses me right off: attachment to as much culture as possible without proper appreciation of said culture, just mindless absorption

2) this isn’t actually a top 5 you know, more of a top 3 - Consider this my rebellious breaking of the boundaries imposed by list threads (did i mention how much i hate them?). Or put it down to laziness, whatever. These aren’t even my least favourite things about the music board, just stuff I fancied ranting about (further boundary manipulation on my part). And if you disagree with anything I say you’re officially part of the problem. In which case you need to piss off. OK?
