Constantines sign to Arts & Crafts
I can't wait til March 2008!
"Canada’s hardest working band are setting up shop closer to home, inking a worldwide record and management deal with fellow Torontonians Arts & Crafts. Speculations began to swirl after an on stage announcement was made by band-leader Bryan Webb at this year’s Toronto Island Virgin Music Festival.

The five-piece are currently in the studio working with long-time friend and engineer Jeff McMurrich on the anticipated follow up to 2005’s Tournament of Hearts. It is scheduled for release in March of 2008.
The Constantines first rocked their way out of Guelph, Ontario, in 1999, with Bryan Webb and Steve Lambke on vocals and guitar; bassist Dallas Wehrle; keyboardist Will Kidman; and drummer Doug McGregor. By 2001, the quintet had relocated to Toronto and issued their initial, eponymous full-length. The album’s raw, moody mix of arty dub-punk with traditional rock energy and pop angles was immediately and roundly embraced. The Constantines was nominated for a Best Alternative Album Juno award and topped the college radio charts in both Canada and America.
In the meantime we'd like to say a sincere and hearty heck yeah and thank you to all the folks at subpop records: it's truly been a great thing to have been a part of these last few years. So, with a tear in our beers, we say "thanks bros". The following statement from SubPop HQ says it best and makes it clear what a solid bunch of gentlemen and ladies they are:
“At the end of their recording contract with Sub Pop, the Constantines decided to work with their friends, the Toronto-based label Arts & Crafts. Arts & Crafts will be releasing the next Constantines album throughout the world. We at Sub Pop are incredibly proud of the records we’ve released with the band and have thoroughly enjoyed our professional and personal relationship with them. We fully expect the latter to continue and wish them nothing but the best in their new version of the former with Arts & Crafts.”
