The music business, due partly to its potential for high income and due partly to its lack of regulation, has at all times attracted chancers, wide-boys, spivs, and the like. (I am not referring to those who plunge into the business with a vsiion and nothing more and succeeded (or otherwise) such as Branson, Blackwell, etc.) I mean the worthless, talentless, careerless, potentialless, idealess halfwits who possess nothing more than misplaced opportunism. They may have left school GCSEless or they may have a "degree" in Business Management or similar - which is equivalent to ahving no GCSEs; whatever their educational background, they have no worth to society. What can they do? All that they can do is to recognise a business that has vacancies and seek to succeed there.

The Music business seems attractive to these types. It requires no qualifications, it requires no GCSEs, it requires no references, it requires no experience because bullshitting is successful within this business. So the morons infest it, and they look to see what is currently the done thing to make a quick buck.

Currently, the options for the morons are:

- Websites selling mp3s
- "TV" channels broadcasting videos
- Battle Of The Bands competitions

All the morons need to do is pursuade the even more moronic morons in advertsiing and sponsorship to assist them financially and they can begin.

The morons, usually, don't operate as criminals: They run a business as the law allows, they keep books, they possess all the flimsy certificates that they need; however, that does not indicate that they have any integrity, honesty or trustworthiness.

And, what they do lack completely is love of music, understanding of love of music, understanding of quality of music. This is absent.

It isn't necessarily the case that every action they take is done with the buck in mind and it isn't necessarily the case that bands are ripped off. What is always apparent is the stupdity of how they operate.

Whether Battle Of The Bands, TV or mp3 websites, the key components are quality not quality: Bombard the public with enough shit and eventually something will stick. At no point will one of these morons make a decision based on quality of music.
