229 Great Portland Street (opposite tube and under ISH) It's where guitars go deviant, keyboards turn filthy and girls and boys go to do the things they shouldn't. With a main room dedicated to everything electric, eclectic and buzzing in indie, electro and rock and a second room hosted, decorated, curated and played out by a different band each month Twisted Licks is a regular one off to be etched into the party calendar.

The Rakes are set to play a full live set at the launch of Twisted Licks this Friday at 229! They are joined live by 1234 hipsters The Bishops, Noisettes touring buddies Assembly Now, the irrepressible Man Like Me and former Cooper Temple Clause axe-wielder Tom Bellamy aka Rhysmix to name but a few.

Tickets are on sale now at only £6 via Ticketweb or its £6 before 10pm/£8 after on the door. This is going to be a fantsatic opportunity to see one of the most exciting bands in the country up close and personal so don't waste a minute and get yourselves organized!

229 is a fantastic new medium sized live music venue in the heart of London, directly opposite Great Portland St Tube Station under the International Student House. This venue is a real gem, about to be firmly unveiled due to the efforts of a new management team with real vision and support. With venue 1 having a capacity of 620 and venue 2 holding another 180, a fantastic sound system, staging and lighting and subsidized bars, 229 will soon have passionate music lovers and clubbers purring at the prospect of hanging out at a great new venue that will give you change from a tenner on your round!
