Hello.

One of my bandmates is planning to buy a laptop that we want to use live and at home.

The plan at the moment is to have Reason and Ableton and use a midi controller keyboard to trigger the sounds live.

Would also like to use for recording at home with Cubase/Logic.

Ideally he'd like to pay for it gradually over a year/couple of years rather than all at once.

Can anyone please recommend a decent package that is availalble that would suit his needs, or a particular website who custom builds music laptops or offers packages for live/home recording purposes?

Does anyone else you a laptop live and have any recommendations? What sort of soundcard do you use?

Budget is between £600-1500 depending on finance package.

Any help would be hugely appreciated,it's hard to know where to start.
