Rock legend Meat Loaf may have sung his last note in public after reportedly quitting mid-UK tour.

The US singer, 60, best known for Bat Out Of Hell, told thousands of fans in Newcastle last night: "This is the last show I may ever do in my life," before walking off stage after only an hour.

There's no word from his publicist or record firm as to whether the tour will continue. It's believed that the singer is suffering from an inflamed larynx.
