Protest Singers

anInvisibleRepublic [Edit] [Delete] 13:36, 15 November '07

Is the the genre of protest/folk music dead or has it slipped out of sight? I'm aware of guys like Frank Turner and Get Cape but they don't really compare to the likes of Dylan and Bragg(which admittedly would be quite the challenge, but y'know).

Our society (Irish, in my case) is fraught with as many social problems as it ever was but no-one seems to be singing about it. 'Social Commentary' as we know it seems to gravitate around chasing trendy girls and scraps in kebab shops.

Is the idea of the protest singer in the grave, or are my ears just not pressed to right part of the ground?
