50 Foot Wave
I am devastated. This is a crime, come on 4AD... support this band, promote this band... they deserve it!
We only just learned in the last 24 hours that the deal bringing 50 Foot Wave to Southern Europe fell apart. The band is shattered. Kristin will play her Primavera gig, but that's all that is going to happen.
These are hard times I'm afraid, and the poor turnouts for 50 Foot Wave's latest UK/Euro dates have forced this issue. There's simply not enough financial support for the band at this time.
Our entire business model, predicated on reaching people directly is being re-examined and may require adjustment.
The band will continue -- the music's too good for them to go away...It's just that the touring we've planned and conducted is not being supported either by fan attendance or by record company promo. The music market is an odd place right now. We've lost so many outlets for new music...sad.
