double albums that work!

Jamie_Summers [Edit] [Delete] 16:40, 27 November '07

i find many double or triple sets impossible to sit through in one go. 69 love songs for instance, it's all good, but it sends me batshit insane listening to more than one disc at a time.

on the other hand, Husker Du's Zen Arcade really works, i dont get bored at all, its got a sort of narrative and lots of different styles. hoorah.

concept album wise, The Wall works because the narrative is pretty strong, though not always coherent. the musics not all good but there are enough good and interesting bits to pull you through. Tommy however loses the narrative in the second half and repeats too many riffs. they're beautiful riffs, but i dont need to hear them 20 times.

any thoughts, dear readers?
