Dalek for free last night! +Enablers/Acid Mothers

I saw Dalek for nothing yesterday at a bowls club! Well sort of. After their show at the Roadhouse was cancelled they opened for Enablers and Acid Mothers Temple. They played for about half an hour at the side of the room on a couple of pub tables. I'd never heard them before and it was brilliant. I loved how noisy the beats were.

Enablers were also really good. The two guitarists coaxing all manner of feedback out of their amps as well as quality Sonic Yoofesque plucking. The drummer was hunched over the kit, bashing seven shades of shit out of it and worryingly probably giving himself curvature of the spine at the same time. Pete Simonelli was once again spitting prose into the front rows' faces menacingly. They played lots of new songs which seemed just as good if not better as the ones from End Note and seemingly won over a lot of people. Most definitely worth checking out.

Acid Mothers Temple and the Cosmic Inferno were awful and at the same time totally awesome. Spinal Tap. The closest thing I can think of is Comets on Fire stretched out into the horizon. It was very very funny. I really hope for their sakes they are some sort of parody. One or two riffs stretched out forever followed by the most ridiculous guitar wanking I have ever seen/heard courtesy of Kawabata Makoto who sported a Jimi Hendrix style upside down guitar even though he was right handed. I think he genuinely believed he was conducting cosmic frequencies when he held his guitar up to the sky (ceiling of a small social club). Also they all stood about five metres away from each other and there were two drummers. They are possibly the most overblown extreme psychedelic rock band in the entire world.

That was long. Sorry!
