Holy wow, is this one of the best albums of the year or what? On this week's listens I'd say its their best record by far, all of their previous elements are totally realised, plus an amazing new jazzy side. I was just listening to it and thinking, this is the band Mars Volta want to be nowadays but never could be. Incredible musicianship, very complex, beautiful vocals, but at all times every thing is honed in and subtle. Nothing in your face, no obtrusive guitar riffing every ten seconds, masterfully mature and well tempered. I think people are going to look back on this band in a decade's time as something very special indeed. Discuss?
