A few mates and I have started putting on the odd club night here and there and have been a bit alarmed by the shortage of good bands. I'm not going to name any names as it is not my intention to offend anyone, but most of the ones that seem to play the big supports at The Joiners etc. are not to our taste.

Can anyone recommend a few bands with good material who are competent live? We are putting these nights on for honourable reasons as opposed to doing it for the money (which is fortunate, as we haven't made any yet), so we're not arsed about getting people through the door as much as we are putting good, up-and-coming bands on.
