Music Social More…

Realising you actually detest certain albums

wrightylew [Edit] [Delete] 19:27, 31 May '08

Lovely day, only me and two others at work, everything is nice and relaxed and its all going fine.

Then someone puts A Rush Of Blood To The Head by Coldplay on. I hadn't heard it in about 3 years, and I remembered liking it. Clocks, Warning Sign, Daylight.

I must have listened to some very good music in that 3 years to put into perspective how irritatingly drab this record is. Its like they had all the flair and creativity steam-rolled out of them before they made it. The lyrics say nothing to anyone about anything, and the chord progressions make Oasis look like Gershwin.

And then there's the title track. Its like one of those poems you have to write in year 9 about poverty in RE. "I'm gonna buy a gun and start a war, if you can tell me something worth fighting for."

ARGH. I firmly rebrand this record a generous 1/10, and stand disgusted at the NME's choice way back when, to call this ALBUM OF THE YEAR instead of Highly Evolved.
