why do bands chill out as their carrer progresses?

fistyness [Edit] [Delete] 14:49, 19 June '08

its always annoyed me, bands gradually phase out use of their distortion pedals in exchange for more mellow sounds. and then even the 'heavy' ones on later albums just dont sound as heavy but can be imagined to be heavier in my mind. notable examples of this are foo fighters, smashing pumpkins, placebo, weezer, biffy clyro, all these bands started off rocking and now they dont seem to know what a distortion pedal is, and if they do, its a shit half distorted one, haha
anyway, end of rant, i jus got annoyed this morning listening to my ipod on the bus
