I love The Shins and think James Mercer is the most amazing lyricist I have ever heard. Paradoxically though, I must admit sometimes I have no idea what the fuck he's going on about (although whatever it is, it's fucking beautiful). This is despite having a degree in English Literature.

Can anyone enlighten me or even speculate as to the meaning of, say 'Caring Is Creepy', or any others? Or even some other oblique lyrics by other artists?

I accept that I may come off as thick (or obsessive and geeky) by starting this thread, but I don't give a fuck to be honest.
