Guitar trends

yes_ [Edit] [Delete] 18:22, 9 July '08

I was thinking about this today: i can't think of a "popular" band today (either in the mainstream or in DiSsy circles) who uses a Gibson les paul style guitar, likewise with the stratocaster. They seem to be considerer "fogeys guitars". I remember a few years back the humble telecaster adorned the shoulders of pretty much every indie guitarist and It still does to an extent, though these days it seems to be Gibson and kramer guitars with the dual cutaway type thingy that are all the rage, whilst fender mustangs have always been the rage with "experimental" types. I predict in the next few years that gibson SGs will come back into fashion.

Is it purely because of the sound of guitars that they correspond with the popular sound of the kids or is it more than that?

Sorry for this extremely nerdy thread.
