I was thinking what makes RHP's Strawberry Hill so good. It's the building tension. Galaxie 500 has that in spades, never quite reaching a climax. It's what makes the title track on Japan's Obscure Alternatives so good. On that one, David Sylvian brings it to a cresendo with these yelping moans. It's the musical equivalent of an orgasm. Usually, longer songs have to have this component if it's to keep my attention.
