Is 'Greatness' in Music entirely subjective?

fullerov [Edit] [Delete] 16:39, 14 July '08

Inspired by the Beatles Thread.

For example two people are arguing over whether say The Beatles or The Beach Boys are the better band. Neither of them can be judged to be 'wrong' because there are no set standards of measuring the 'Greatness' of a band or indeed any artistic work or body of work.

However if someone sincerely made a case that Westlife were in fact superior to those bands, 99% of people would find that ascertation ridiculous, so can it be wrong?
