So, a little while ago someone recommended I get into Kitchens of Distinction, the 80s band. I gave them a few listens and thought "this is excellent, I'm going to try buy me some albums".

But all the albums are out of print. This is annoying but probably understandable, I don't think they were particularly big or even medium-sized in the 80s, so there you go.

But my question is this: what's the legality of doing different things now in terms of acquiring this music?

I can't buy the albums first-hand, I can only get them second-hand, which presumably feeds no money back to the artists or the record label the albums were sold on. I can't find anywhere to download the albums in mp3 form (I probably could if I looked really hard, but let's assume for this argument there's nowhere to find them).

Therefore, am I legally entitled to either a) download them illegally from a file-sharing network, or b) copy the mp3 from a CD a friend has (I don't have a friend who has any of their CDs, but let's say I do for sake of argument)? Or is this still breaking the law?
