This isn't meant to be one of those complaint threads asking why "insert misunderstood band from the indie canon" is popular (ex. someone complaining about MBV), but what, in your opinion, is the appeal of Dan Deacon and his music?

I don't dislike him, nor am I attempting to start some kind of reply war. I downloaded Spiderman of the Rings a while ago but found the songs to be abrasive on first listen, slightly creepy ("Woody Woodpecker"), or lacking in the ultra-catchy hooks that can be found in other electronic music. Ideas?
