Clueless broadsheet music journalism redux

"The Kooks continued to resemble a generic indie band assembled as a sideline by children's TV presenters and, given the banality of their output, their cover of the Fall's song Victoria verged on the sacrilegious."

Now, clearly Ian Gittins' ire here is caused by the very thought that A Band Like The Kooks are covering A Band Like The Fall. Except... surely it's fairly verging on the sacrilegious itself to call the Kinks' Victoria a Fall song, especially when far more people would be aware of the original.

And it's particularly glaring given that in performing it, the Kooks WERE JOINED BY RAY DAVIES.
