The Bravery Hoxton Gig, f'ing divas

splinx [Edit] [Delete] 12:48, 23 August '05
So The Bravery played in Hoxton last night - What a bunch of pretentious divas! Making us wait until midnight so their mics could be lined up in perfect symmetry and their guitars alphabetised. It wasn't long ago that we were supporting this band at the metro and little indie clubs, they get a little taste of fame and treat us with the most incredulous disrespect.

Living in London the fact is most of us have very little money, definitely no money for taxis. So swaggering on stage at midnight on a Monday night meant that we were able to see 2 songs before having to run for the last tube. Completely inconsiderate.

And the reason for the delay getting on stage...? Looked like the beer needed chilling to the perfect temperature and neatly arranged in ice buckets. Then the tray of shots needed to be placed accurately by everyone's equipment. Finally, the iced bottled water - naturally. What's wrong with a few warm beers being chucked by the mic? Not good enough for American divas?

Then the awfully American roadies (with hankies spilling out from their backpockets like extras from a Billy Joel video) couldn't resist coming back on stage every 5 mins to realign the mics or put the guitars in another order or polish the drum kit...

The circus music the DJ was playing was far to apt! It would have made my night for the clowns (some call the Bravery) to have come on to that music. When they did finally emerge they may have well have just sat up there and wanked so was their self appreciation. While I'm dealing out insults - it also looks like they haven't got any further than the first page in the book of rock'n'roll moves. How many times can one man pull that same pose?

What a waste of a tenner.
