ULU - what a crap venue

jimbobbley [Edit] [Delete] 18:18, 29 October '08

went to ULU last night for what was surprisingly, after over 13 years of london-gig going, the first time - what a crap venue. rammed to the back teeth, mostly with students (half of whom i'm guessing snuck in without paying, security wasn't exactly tight) and generally just so student union-y it hurt. plus £3.50 for red stripe at a student union? piss off.

i'm all for going to student unions when i'm a student but i wouldn't go back to ulu unless it was a bloody amazing gig. why bands make a student union gig their only one of a tour is beyond me.. the atmosphere was just 'beer beer beer music beer' rather than a better balance of 'beer music music music beer'. probably up there with the astoria in terms of my least favourite london venues anyway.

ho-hum. anyone else any views? my favourites for what it's worth - brixton (the best by far), the forum, shepherd's bush (not so much the venue but i always seem to see amazing gigs there), hammersmith is ok too.
