albums to listen to when drifting around a city

michael_w [Edit] [Delete] 13:12, 6 November '08

i quite like this as a concept...the idea that an album can come to life and interect with a specific environment.

someone mentioned something in the joy division film about how unknown pleasures was just completely made for the manchester landscape at the time

and i thought this about the new bloc party too. i didnt really get it...but then it came to life for me when i listened to it wandering around at night with the sallow glow of street lights and shop fronts, and the hum of the traffic. ironically, intimacy i rekon, does this better than a weekend in the city.

and i felt this the other day listening to armchair apocrypha by andrew bird, wandering around london. a perfect autumn afternoon, wandering around..it just seemed to match.

anyway, enough babble....anyone got any similar albums/experiences?...or know what im going on about.

im sure there must have been a thread about this before somewhere.
