The song that made me think of this thread was Work by Jimmy Eat World. I reckon it might be their finest moment. A perfect three and a half minute pop song with a chorus that genuinely takes off. It may just be another high school love song but it FEELS important and passionate. It got me through some difficult times at the end of last year too.
