Agents/fees

Skadazzle [Edit] [Delete] 11:05, 18 December '08

Hi

I am interested in your thoughts/advice re: the above.

I recently approached an agent about a band who I am interested in for a London gig. I made an offer and was a little surprised when I was told they were getting 4x times that amount!

I know it's in the agents interested to get the highest fee they can for a band they represent and maybe it's my own fault, my naivety when it comes to booking London based bands for London gigs. However when a band has only released 1 single which didn't make any real impact, done the odd decent support act and had some press but not a great deal and hasn't released a album (though one is due out next year). I felt they ideally fee was steep or is that a fair figure for London gigs??

I suppose I am trying to gauge whether I was way off in terms of fee offers or not because it'll be good to have any idea for any future band approaches I make.

Thanks,
x
