That's an underrated Christmas song, isn't it? Here's a song released on Stiff records with a quite odd rhythm and a brass band interlude in which the protagonist is a soldier hoping the war ends soon. It's on every mainstream Christmas compilation and gets on radio every year yet nobody ever covers it, it's not held with the same esteem as Slade or Wizzard and it's not seen as an alternative Christmas classic in the same way Fairytale Of New York or Christmas Wrapping are.
