Music/words interface issues in songwriting

jonny_rat [Edit] [Delete] 12:11, 23 December '08

When I'm writing music, I invariably end up with words, instruments, and nary a way to marry the two.

I'm not quite sure what the problem is. I don't know if I'm not adept enough at 'fitting' the words to the melody that I've sketched out, or perhaps I'm going about it arse over tit. Or perhaps I'm trying to fit too much wordiness into the lyrics.

In any case, any tips? I've resorted to employing a Papa Lazarou-esque made-up dialect in order to sing out temporary melodies, and to be honest I just don't think the world is ready for that shit.
