I seriously wrote this off having heard it once back when it cam back, decided it was so MOR. Listened to it again recently and thought the same, until now.

Seems I mistook subtle for 'toned down'. This is a really quite wonderful sounding record, even if it's not as aggressive and up front as their previous one. I like the increased prominence of the synth, and I really really like his voice, even if I wish the production put the drums back at the front. The whole album has this great anthemic feel- it's kinda uplifting.

Anyone else make the same mistake?
