Why? Why? Why exactly?

I downloaded Alopecia from EMusic and while it's enjoyable enough I can't really get into it. It sounds kind of like BranVan 3000 covering Of Montreal to me. The lyrics seem somewhere between good and annoyingly over-clever.

Um. So, is Alopecia actually a good idea of their sound? Are they amazing live in a way the record doesn't apture or is it just not my thing?
