was hoping for a bit of advice on booking a tour or securing a short support slot (5 dates ish).... i suppose manchester/leeds/cardiff/bristol/london or something like that?

the story goes: we have a record coming out in april, the label and pr company want us to have a scehdule of dates at around this time... the whole operation is pretty low budget so the booking is falling to us and our manager.... any tips on methodology/venues/promoters would be really welcome.

we have a fairly big local following and have had decent supports (okkervil river, hold steady, slow club, wedding present, born ruffians, broken records, elvis perkins, alabama 3 etc...) but have almost no national profile to speak of. we get told we sound like bright eyes, pogues, neutral milk hotel, waterboys, decemberists... we don't really.... but you get the picture...

anyway, enough... help?
