Jackson & His Computer Band

lazerlife [Edit] [Delete] 10:28, 6 January '09

I've been revisiting an old favourite recently, being massively into SebastiAn, Shadow Dancer and Mr Oizo's recent output I felt like going back to the guy who pretty much created (and arguably mastered) that sound.

His album "Smash" is pretty much amazing all the way through, lots of chopped n screwed samples, huge drum sounds and awesome textures; infinitely more danceable than Aphex et al but retaining quite a lot of their complexity. Not only this, the guy had an amazing sense of melody and almost all the tracks tend to be not only incredibly evocative but at once very human and very robotic. The guy's a straight up genius, but even when the album came out in 2005 I seem to remember a lot of people passed it by for Vitalic's awesome, but fairly straightforward OK Cowboy. Listening back to them both now, J&HCB hasn't aged one bit, whereas OK Cowboy sounds a bit rusty in places.

So anybody else dig the guy? Or more importantly, WHEN THE FUCK IS HE GOING TO DO SOMETHING ELSE?!? Please let somebody have read some snippet somewhere that says 2009 will be the year he returns.
