Unnecessary comparions and clarifications in the lyrics of songs you like

theguywithnousername [Edit] [Delete] 14:00, 12 January '09

Don't get me wrong - I think Britney Spears' Circus is a great pop song but she appears to claim that being a singer makes her "like a performer, the dancefloor is my stage"

Surely rather than her being "like a performer", she is a performer? Isn't this analogy a bit like saying my work in an office is "a bit like having an office job?"

What lyrics of songs you like do you find a bit silly? For me there's also Suede's We Are the Pigs lyric - "I'll stay at home in my house" - presumably as opposed to the other places one could feasibly stay at home and Nick Cave's Hard-on For Love's "They can stone me with stones, I don't care" (which I admit might be deliberate).
